Pooja

My last post was about nature.
The way we ignore joys that nature has offered us, in the quest of our so called materialistic ambitions. We ignore all the aspects of nature, that satisfy all five senses to its fullest.
The same thread continued, another thought crossed my mind. When we are performing Pooja, the offerings are, flowers, lit lamp, essence stick, haldi-kumkum, and bhog (sweets).

This is probably to thank god for giving us all these things in life. i.e. light, color, fragrance, food, beauty.
The other aspects associated with Pooja are also for one think about things that are larger than life.
A larger than life- mystic idol, sound of bells, light and the shadows casted by oil lamps, fragrance and chants, together take you away from yourself. They make you forget what is happening in the surrounding.

And again crosses my mind that I have to read the old Hindu literature, Vedas, Upnishads from where all our knowledge base is built on... Including our language, mathematics, sciences and the whole culture.
